The Saudi Press Agency reported that Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah met with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on the sidelines of the Group of Seven ministerial meeting in the French Republic. The discussions focused on the latest regional and international developments along with efforts to tackle them. Kaja Kallas also holds the position of Vice President of the European Commission. The meeting occurred in Val de Cernay on March 27, 2026.

This engagement forms part of broader diplomatic efforts between Saudi Arabia and the European Union. The Saudi Press Agency noted a similar videoconference on March 5, 2026, where Prince Faisal joined GCC and EU ministers to address Iranian attacks targeting Gulf states. Participants in that session reaffirmed strategic relations and expressed solidarity while exploring ways to enhance regional security and stability. The ministers stressed the need to protect civilians and adhere to international law.

Subsequent high-level contacts have reinforced the partnership. According to the Saudi Press Agency, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received European Council President António Costa in Jeddah on April 15, 2026. The two leaders reviewed the strategic partnership between the Kingdom and the EU and examined regional developments and their security and economic implications. Coordination on security and economic matters was a key topic during the talks attended by several senior officials from both sides.

European Commission figures show total trade between the bloc and Saudi Arabia reached 66.268 billion euros in 2025. The General Authority for Statistics places Saudi imports from Europe at 61.3 billion SAR in the fourth quarter of 2025 alone. Such economic links complement the political dialogue that officials from both sides maintain through regular meetings. More than 2,500 European companies operate in the Kingdom, a Saudi Arabian Banking report indicated.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan has actively participated in international forums to promote Saudi perspectives. A February 2026 session at the Munich Security Conference that he joined featured talks on reforming the global order, the Saudi Press Agency indicated. The discussions underscored the need to update multilateral institutions for greater justice and equality among nations. Kaja Kallas was also involved in that particular exchange.

The Saudi Press Agency has highlighted additional meetings advancing bilateral ties. In December 2025, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir conferred with the chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the Arab Peninsula in Brussels. The discussions covered Saudi Arabia’s positions on regional and international issues as well as opportunities to expand cooperation in various domains. Ambassador Haifa Al-Jedea was among those present at the gathering.

These repeated interactions illustrate the depth of Saudi-EU dialogue on global affairs. The Saudi Press Agency has consistently covered such meetings as part of the Kingdom’s foreign policy outreach. Efforts continue to align on challenges ranging from Middle East stability to wider international concerns. The latest consultation in France contributes to sustained communication between the two parties.
