The GCC Ministerial Council strongly condemned Iranian drone and ballistic missile attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan in a statement issued after its meeting in Manama, the Saudi Press Agency reported on June 27, 2026. The statement described the strikes as a flagrant violation of sovereignty and international norms, expressed full support for the affected states and urged the international community and UN Security Council to act to prevent further incidents.

The Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council issued the statement after convening in the Bahraini capital, according to reports by the Saudi Press Agency and Emirates News Agency. It said the attacks constitute a serious violation of the principles of good neighbourliness and pose threats to the security of peoples and the safety of territories. The council followed these developments with the utmost concern and condemnation, affirming that “such hostile acts do not serve understanding or rapprochement.” The statement highlighted the need for collective action among GCC members.

According to the statement, the GCC affirmed on behalf of its member states its full solidarity and firm support for the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It declared that the security of GCC states is indivisible and any attack against one member state is an attack against them all. The council called on the international community to condemn these attacks and urged the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities with an immediate and firm stance. Such a position would help prevent the repetition of violations that endanger civilian lives and carry grave repercussions for peace.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi echoed the condemnation in remarks during the meeting, the Saudi Press Agency reported. AlBudaiwi stated that Iran’s continued targeting of civilian facilities and vital infrastructure undermines international and regional efforts aimed at promoting security and peace and resolving ongoing crises. He reaffirmed the GCC’s full support for all measures taken by the three countries to strengthen their security and protect their territorial integrity. The secretary-general’s comments came as part of the 167th session of the Ministerial Council.

Kuwait independently issued a strong condemnation of the Iranian drone attacks on Bahrain, its Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by Kuwait Times on June 27. The ministry described the action as a blatant violation of Bahrain’s sovereignty and international law that undermines ongoing regional de-escalation efforts. It reiterated Kuwait’s support for Bahrain and its stand by the kingdom in all measures to protect its security and stability. The Kuwaiti position aligns with the broader GCC consensus announced in Manama.

The condemnations arrive amid heightened regional tensions that have seen multiple incidents of Iranian-linked strikes in recent weeks, according to reports compiled by Asharq Al-Awsat. These events have included assaults on infrastructure that officials say threaten not only local stability but also global trade and energy supplies. The GCC meeting in Manama also addressed coordination among member states to respond to such challenges. The unified statement represents the bloc’s consistent approach to external threats against its members or allies.

Official news agencies including SPA and WAM distributed the full text of the Ministerial Council statement to highlight the GCC’s position. The document rejected any justifications for the attacks and stressed their incompatibility with principles of good neighbourliness between states. It further called for the international community to denounce the actions to deter future occurrences. The response underscores the interconnected security framework within the Gulf region and its extensions to Jordan.
