Pakistan’s Finance Division reported that Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb received Saudi Ambassador Dr Rajeh Tami Albugamy on October 29 for discussions on potential collaboration across agriculture minerals mining and additional sectors that hold investment promise. The two sides underlined the necessity of moving from shared objectives to measurable projects while expanding business-to-business contacts that can deepen overall economic engagement. Aurangzeb used the occasion to reaffirm the historic friendship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and to thank Riyadh for its sustained assistance to Islamabad.

The minister outlined recent gains in Pakistan’s economic indicators including higher foreign exchange reserves and lower inflation the Finance Division statement indicated. He drew attention to positive shifts in credit ratings the issuance of a $3 billion Eurobond and renewed entry to Chinese capital markets as elements that have lifted investor assurance. Aurangzeb added that ongoing structural reforms and a reliable investment framework would remain central to fostering both local and overseas capital inflows.

According to the Finance Division the ambassador pointed to the value of intensified private-sector linkages in generating fresh economic prospects for the two nations. Talks also examined Pakistan’s strategic position and its ability to act as a trade and transit hub that could improve connectivity throughout the wider region. The officials exchanged assessments of current regional dynamics with both stressing the role of stability and peace in protecting future economic cooperation.

Arab News reported that the latest contact builds upon an August accord in which the countries set a goal of lifting Pakistan’s agricultural and food exports to Saudi Arabia toward $3 billion with rice red meat fruit products and green fodder listed as immediate priorities. That target exceeds prevailing export levels and forms part of a broader push to diversify Pakistan’s sales to the kingdom. Saudi Arabia stands as one of Pakistan’s principal sources of remittances and financial backing.

The Finance Division noted that Pakistani and Saudi companies finalised 34 memoranda of understanding worth $2.8 billion in 2024 illustrating the trajectory of bilateral commercial activity in recent years. Earlier Saudi proposals have included participation in the Reko Diq mining initiative and a planned $10 billion refinery complex at Gwadar. Central bank figures show that workers based in Saudi Arabia remitted roughly $873 million to Pakistan during August alone while the kingdom hosts approximately 2.5 million Pakistani nationals.

Pakistan’s Finance Division said Aurangzeb reiterated the government’s dedication to maintaining macroeconomic stability that has enabled renewed access to international markets. The emphasis on agriculture and mining aligns with Pakistan’s resource base and Saudi Arabia’s capacity to supply development funding and know-how. The conversation reflects Islamabad’s continuing focus on drawing foreign direct investment to support long-term growth across key economic domains.
