Qatar News Agency reported that the QSE index closed lower on June 21 at 10,480.95 points, down 29.97 points or 0.29 percent, with decliners exceeding advancers by a margin of 29 to 18. A total of 103.7 million shares were traded for QR 258.6 million across 14,008 deals, bringing market capitalization to QR 632.8 billion.

Qatar News Agency figures showed the market capitalization had stood at QR 635.6 billion in the previous session, reflecting a reduction of roughly QR 2.86 billion on the day. This performance follows a 0.61 percent decline on June 18 that closed the index at 10,510.92 points according to historical records maintained by Investing.com. Market activity remained moderate compared with prior sessions that had seen higher turnover in the preceding weeks.

Trading Economics data places the index 2.43 percent lower over the past month although it stands 1.10 percent above year-ago levels. The benchmark reached a record high of 14,931 points in 2022 and has traded in a range around the 10,500 mark during recent months. Such movements occur within a market that has recorded modest yearly gains of 1.8 percent in 2025 according to separate analysis.

A Marmore MENA assessment forecast corporate earnings growth of 8.3 percent across Qatar-listed companies in 2026 driven largely by the financial sector which represents nearly 60 percent of total market earnings. The consultancy projected real GDP expansion at 6.1 percent for the year with the hydrocarbon sector advancing 12.1 percent once production begins at the North Field East LNG project in the second half. This outlook incorporates expectations of a fiscal surplus equivalent to 2.5 percent of GDP alongside contained inflation near 2.6 percent.

World Federation of Exchanges published a Q&A in which QSE CEO Abdullah Mohammed Al Ansari outlined plans for a robust pipeline of new listings and sukuk issuances throughout 2026. Al Ansari pointed to alignment between the country’s macroeconomic path and capital market reforms as a key theme for the year ahead. The exchange had already noted a 0.6 percent gain for the QSE 20 index in May when it closed that month at 10,555 points according to earlier market summaries.

Marmore MENA highlighted that benchmark valuations had become attractive with the price-to-earnings ratio falling to 11.9 times against a five-year average of 13.5 times. The firm noted this followed market corrections in prior years that had improved the risk-reward profile for equities. Lower interest rates were also expected to support domestic credit expansion and investor participation in the coming period.

Fitch Solutions projected that regional geopolitical developments could weigh on broader GCC growth in 2026 with some scenarios pointing to a mild contraction for the bloc as a whole. The agency nevertheless identified Qatar’s LNG-driven expansion as providing a relative buffer compared with more exposed neighbors. Its June 2026 analysis revised earlier estimates while maintaining a constructive view on Qatar’s hydrocarbon investments.
