Qatar Stock Exchange Index Falls 0.29 Percent on June 21 Trading

The Qatar Stock Exchange index dropped 29.97 points or 0.29 percent to close at 10,480.95 on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Qatar News Agency reported. The session saw 103,662,776 shares traded for a total value of QR 258,558,264.38 through 14,008 transactions. Market capitalization stood at QR 632,755,897,057 at the close, down from QR 635,610,978,050 the previous day, according to the agency.

Qatar News Agency data indicated that shares of 18 companies advanced during the session while those of 29 companies declined and six remained unchanged. The report provided no further breakdown by sector or specific firm performances. This session followed a period in which the index had shown some stability in prior weeks. The decline in market capitalization amounted to approximately QR 2.86 billion from the prior close.

According to Trading Economics, the index continued its downward movement the following day, closing at 10,446.04 on June 22 after an additional 0.33 percent loss. Trading Economics figures show a 2.43 percent decline over the past month although the benchmark remains 1.10 percent above year-ago levels. The service projects the index to trade around 10,485 points by the end of the current quarter.

The Peninsula Qatar reported that the exchange had registered marginal gains for two consecutive months through May 2026. The QSE 20 index concluded May at 10,555 points following a 0.6 percent monthly advance. The publication noted gains in real estate, industrials and transport sectors during that period.

Qatar Stock Exchange website statistics placed the index at 10,510.92 on June 18 before the declines seen in subsequent sessions. In a discussion published on world-exchanges.org, QSE CEO Abdullah Mohammed Al Ansari outlined priorities for 2026 centered on liquidity expansion and product diversification. Al Ansari stated that these steps aim to support both institutional and retail investors in the market.

The QSE has maintained a focus on regulatory enhancements and market infrastructure improvements throughout the year, according to exchange announcements. Such measures include updates to index constituents released in May 2026 for the QE Index and related benchmarks.
