Alwasil called for robust safeguards for civilians, civilian objects, humanitarian workers and medical personnel amid fighting. The envoy underlined the importance of upholding state sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity without external interference in domestic matters.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that Alwasil urged the consistent enforcement of international law free from selectivity or double standards while pushing for stronger accountability regarding breaches. He advocated greater emphasis on dialogue and peaceful settlements along with backing for mediation to address conflicts and curb their humanitarian fallout. Such steps would help reinforce global norms and reduce the human and security costs of disputes.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, Alwasil responded to the Israeli representative’s comments by accusing Israel of cynicism and arrogance in addressing the topic while overlooking its own record as an occupying power. The ambassador listed locations including Gaza, Qana, Deir Yassin, Sabra and Shatila, and Bahr Al-Baqar as sites of alleged Israeli crimes and described Israel’s claims over Jerusalem and Hebron as forged. He further criticized Israel for discussing human rights and justice despite daily violations of those principles.
The Saudi Press Agency noted that Alwasil recalled Saudi Arabia’s status as a founding UN member and original signatory to its Charter, reaffirming the kingdom’s dedication to all initiatives aimed at sustaining peace and enhancing the organization’s effectiveness.
