The Omani Foreign Ministry released a statement on Saturday condemning the targeting of a pipeline in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The ministry reaffirmed its firm position rejecting such attacks and the targeting of vital civilian infrastructure regardless of the motives or reasons behind them. It renewed the Sultanate’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures aimed at protecting the kingdom’s territory, vital facilities and security and stability.
Oman’s statement stressed the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states while avoiding anything that could threaten the security and stability of the region. The Foreign Ministry called on all parties to exercise wisdom and restraint in dealing with these developments. It emphasised giving precedence to dialogue and addressing underlying causes through political and diplomatic means and solutions.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the attack involved several drones launched from Iraq that targeted the East-West Pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah regions. The incident resulted in injuries and some material damage, Saudi authorities reported. In response, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the kingdom had chosen not to respond at this stage to allow the Iraqi government an opportunity to take necessary measures to prevent future attacks from its territory.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the kingdom reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, facilities, citizens and residents. The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Albudaiwi, strongly condemned the targeting of the pipeline, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Albudaiwi expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all steps to defend its security and stability.
A statement from the Qatar News Agency in March documented a similar Omani condemnation of attacks on energy facilities in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The Sultanate expressed solidarity with the affected brotherly nations and called for de-escalation, cessation of military operations and diplomatic solutions in that instance. Oman’s latest statement follows this pattern of response to regional security incidents throughout 2026.
