The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Muhammad Ishaq Dar reviewed the state of bilateral relations between the two countries during their telephone conversation. The discussion covered recent regional developments with particular attention to the ongoing crisis. Both sides addressed efforts to contain the situation and promote peaceful solutions via dialogue and negotiation. The ministries indicated that the call focused on reducing tensions while preserving security and stability throughout the region.

This exchange follows the ministers’ participation in a high-level gathering in late August. The Pakistani Foreign Office reported that the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement took place in Istanbul on Aug. 31. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye agreed at that session to institutionalise their cooperation to bolster collective deterrence and defence. The Foreign Office added that the alliance’s secretariat will initially be headed by a Pakistani secretary general for three years.

The three countries committed during the Istanbul meeting to steps that would enhance their solidarity and contribute to regional efforts toward a just and lasting peace. The Makkah Agreement framework aims to support cooperative security across the broader area. Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Prince Faisal bin Farhan joined defence ministers and senior military officials for the session at Istanbul’s Ciragan Palace.

The Saudi Press Agency noted that the Sunday phone call built on the momentum from the recent trilateral defence discussions. Officials from both the Saudi and Pakistani sides reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination on matters of shared concern. The conversation underscored the depth of diplomatic ties that have been strengthened through repeated high-level engagements in recent years.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have maintained a strategic partnership that spans economic, security and political domains. The ministries highlighted in their statements the value of sustained communication to navigate current regional challenges. Such interactions form part of ongoing bilateral mechanisms designed to align positions on key international issues.

The latest call reflects the two countries’ consistent approach to advocating for de-escalation in volatile situations. According to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussion emphasised the role of negotiation in achieving stability. Dar and Prince Faisal bin Farhan agreed to remain in contact as developments unfold.
