The Jordanian Armed Forces said its air defence systems and Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft carried out the interceptions of the seven missiles and six drones on Friday as the projectiles approached the kingdom. The military statement described the operation as successful in neutralising all threats before they could cause harm within Jordan or to nearby allied assets. Air force planes joined ground-based defences in engaging the Iranian-launched weapons, according to details released in the announcement.

No casualties resulted among Jordanian forces or the civilian population, the armed forces stated, while confirming that material damage was equally absent from the event. Engineering units from the Royal Jordanian Army were dispatched to secure any remnants in line with established procedures for such incidents. The military has sustained elevated readiness levels with ongoing surveillance of its airspace to detect and respond to further attempts.

Iran has ramped up its missile and drone campaign against Jordan in recent days, CBS News reported, citing concerns over the safety of US troops deployed there. Analysts speaking to the broadcaster indicated that the strikes seek to test Jordanian air defences surrounding American bases in the desert kingdom. This latest barrage fits a pattern that has seen several waves of attacks since early in the month.

Three US soldiers lost their lives in one such Iranian missile strike on a Jordanian base earlier this year, according to CBS News tallies of the conflict’s casualties. The deaths occurred at a facility housing American personnel supporting operations against Islamic State remnants and other regional threats. Jordan has hosted roughly 3,000 US troops, a presence that has drawn increased Iranian attention amid the wider confrontation.

Patriot air defence systems supplied by the United States form a cornerstone of Jordan’s protective shield, a fact highlighted in assessments by regional security analysts. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has claimed multiple launches targeting specific US-linked sites including the Al-Azraq airbase, as carried in statements monitored by international wire services. The current round of Iranian actions came in retaliation for American strikes on Iranian facilities, Xinhua reported in its dispatches from the region.

The Jordanian military through its media directorate has consistently updated on these developments via the Petra news agency in recent weeks. Each reported interception has followed similar lines with no ground impacts registered inside the country. Debris management and post-event reviews continue to inform adjustments to defensive postures.
