Al Jazeera reported that Israeli forces carried out a large explosion near the towns of Taybeh and Deir Siryan while an air strike targeted a valley between Froun and Ghandourieh on September 25, triggering a large fire in the area. Correspondent Zeina Khodr, reporting from Froun, described ongoing demolitions in more than 60 occupied towns despite the framework agreement for a ceasefire. The reality on the ground, she added, showed that the conflict was far from resolved.

The Lebanese prime minister told the United Nations General Assembly that his country wants the war to end and the ceasefire with Israel consolidated. Salam called for an end to the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon together with full enforcement of the truce. His remarks came as delegates assembled in New York while strikes continued in the south.

According to the Lebanese health ministry, Israeli attacks have killed at least 4,386 people and wounded 12,407 others since March 2 when the current round of hostilities began. The ministry’s data places occupied Lebanese territory at up to 600 square kilometres reaching the Litani River. These figures underscore the scale of displacement and destruction recorded across the border region.

Reuters reported that strikes in August killed at least 11 people in villages including Ansar and Deir El Zahrani, among them three children and two women. Lebanon’s National News Agency detailed seven deaths in a house strike at Ansar with 19 wounded in the combined attacks. The Israeli military stated that one strike targeted a Hezbollah commander in a Radwan Force headquarters.

BBC coverage indicated that despite a ceasefire announced in June, Israeli forces expanded their positions inside southern Lebanon by establishing four additional bases. A UN peacekeeping spokeswoman told the outlet that construction of protective infrastructure and engineering works had been observed at the sites. Lebanese intelligence officials have logged more than 5,000 truce violations including air strikes, shelling and incursions beyond the designated security zone.

Lebanese authorities have recorded more than 1.2 million displaced persons from the affected areas, according to ministry tallies that also note repeated home demolitions in occupied villages. Israeli defence officials have ordered preparations for an extended stay in a security zone up to 10 kilometres inside Lebanese territory. Hezbollah has rejected the arrangement as surrender and vowed continued resistance against what it terms an occupation.
