Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Al Nassr defeated Damac 4-1 on May 21 to clinch the 2025-26 Saudi Pro League title two points ahead of rivals Al Hilal. The result marked the Riyadh club’s first championship since 2019 and provided Ronaldo with his first major club trophy since winning Serie A in 2020. Al Jazeera reported that the 41-year-old struck with a free-kick in the 63rd minute and a close-range finish nine minutes from time after his side had led 2-0 before conceding once.

Al Jazeera reported that Al Nassr built a 2-0 advantage early in the contest only for Damac to respond and narrow the gap to one goal. Ronaldo then converted a trademark free-kick that found the far corner despite a crowded penalty area. He added the fourth goal late on by smashing home a cut-back from the edge of the six-yard box while the victory arrived on the final matchday of the season.

ESPN reported that the triumph represented Al Nassr’s 11th top-flight league title overall with the previous success dating to the 2018-19 campaign. The club had finished as runners-up in multiple recent seasons behind Al Hilal which had claimed several championships prior to this year. Saudi Pro League records confirm the side finished the 2025-26 season with 86 points after a late surge that included multiple consecutive victories.

Saudi Pro League figures show Ronaldo ended the 2025-26 season with 28 goals and two assists from 30 appearances. Olympics.com data places his total output for Al Nassr at 129 goals in 148 matches across all competitions since joining in 2023. Yahoo Sports reported that the brace took his career goal tally to 973 leaving him 27 short of the landmark 1,000.

ESPN noted that Ronaldo has now secured domestic league titles in five countries after previous successes with Sporting CP Manchester United Real Madrid and Juventus. He last lifted major club silverware with Juventus in 2020 before arriving in Saudi Arabia. His only prior honour with Al Nassr was the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup which is not a FIFA-recognised competition.

Al Jazeera stated that Al Nassr had lost the AFC Champions League Two final to Gamba Osaka the Saturday before the Damac fixture. The domestic title provided a strong end to the campaign despite the continental disappointment. Ronaldo was named in Portugal’s squad for the 2026 World Cup which will mark his sixth appearance in the tournament according to multiple reports.

Al Jazeera reported that Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023 following his exit from Manchester United and has since featured alongside other prominent signings including Neymar and Karim Benzema. The Saudi Pro League has attracted increased global attention through such high-profile arrivals in recent years. Saudi Arabia is scheduled to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup adding context to the league’s ongoing development.
