ahlibank Asset Management said in a statement that the Ahli Islamic Money Market Fund has surpassed OMR 100 million in assets under management, establishing it as the Sultanate’s largest Islamic money market fund. The milestone stems from broad-based demand among individual, wealth-management and institutional clients who value professionally managed instruments that prioritize capital preservation with daily liquidity. As of May 31, 2026, the fund delivered a running yield of 4.6 percent along with annualized returns of 4.7 percent over six months, 4.6 percent over 12 months and 4.8 percent since inception, the manager reported. The statement further noted the vehicle’s sustained emphasis on portfolio quality and disciplined risk controls.

Hanaa Mohammed Al Kharusi, Senior General Manager for Wholesale Banking at ahlibank, said in the statement, “Surpassing OMR 100 million in assets under management is an important endorsement of the confidence investors place in the Fund and in ahlibank’s Islamic asset-management capabilities.” Al Kharusi observed that investors are increasingly seeking solutions offering liquidity, professional oversight and alignment with their values. She added that the fund’s continued growth reflects its relevance as a flexible and well-managed option for individual, wealth-management and institutional investors alike.

Noora Sabah Jawad Sultan, Chairperson of the ahli Islamic Money Market Fund, added in the announcement, “This achievement has been built on a disciplined investment framework centered on capital preservation, liquidity and prudent return generation.” Sultan explained that each investment undergoes rigorous due diligence, robust risk-management processes and comprehensive Sharia oversight. This approach has enabled the fund to maintain high standards of portfolio quality and consistency while continuing to deliver value to investors across varying market conditions, she said.

The open-ended Sharia-compliant fund provides exposure to a diversified basket of short-term Islamic instruments, including high-quality sukuk with residual maturities of less than one year as well as murabaha, wakala, ijara and other eligible money-market tools denominated in GCC currencies or US dollars. It features daily dealing with no lock-up period, serving as a flexible substitute for conventional short-term deposits and call accounts while remaining fully aligned with its Islamic mandate. The product is offered in both OMR and USD share classes to address cash-management, wealth-preservation and short-term investment objectives, according to ahlibank Asset Management.

That OMR 100 million threshold follows the fund’s earlier breach of OMR 50 million in assets within its first year after launch. ahlibank introduced the vehicle as Oman’s inaugural Islamic money market fund, a step detailed in the bank’s annual reports that set a benchmark for the local industry. Islamic fund assets across Oman totaled around USD 400 million as of August 2025, a Fitch Ratings assessment found, underscoring the significance of this single-fund milestone.

Oman’s Islamic finance industry reached approximately $36 billion by the close of 2025 and is projected to approach $45 billion through 2026, according to an IBS Intelligence assessment. Islamic banking assets stood at $24.1 billion at end-2025, accounting for nearly 20 percent of overall system assets while expanding faster than the conventional segment. The Central Bank of Oman has supported the sector with new electronic platforms for Sharia-compliant liquidity management, contributing to broader adoption.
