The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that four young men sustained gunshot wounds when Israeli forces raided the Aqaba neighborhood in Nablus’s Old City on Wednesday. The director of the Palestinian Red Crescent’s Emergency and Ambulance Center in Nablus, Amjad Ahmad, told the agency that one was shot in the chest, another in the knee, while two others suffered shrapnel injuries including one to the head. Confrontations broke out after the deployment of multiple military patrols in the area, with forces firing tear gas and stun grenades as well as live rounds.
According to WAFA, the troops were also active around Ras al-Ain, Khan al-Tujjar in the Old City, Martyrs’ Square and the Fatimiyah School. Local youths pelted the military vehicles with stones, prompting the response that resulted in the injuries. The agency noted that the exact circumstances of each shooting remained unclear pending further investigation by Palestinian authorities.
A Haaretz report from May 15, 2026 detailed how Israeli troops killed a 15-year-old Palestinian near Nablus, with the military claiming the teen was throwing stones at vehicles while Palestinian officials accused the forces of withholding the body and denying medics access. That fatality raised the year’s toll of minors killed by Israeli forces to 12, Palestinian health officials said at the time. The Times of Israel has covered multiple similar incidents in Nablus over recent years including a 2024 operation in which a wanted Palestinian was killed in the Balata camp.
In a broader context, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission documented 628 settler attacks in August alone, directly affecting 164 Palestinians including 20 children and 17 women. The commission’s data placed the combined total of incidents involving Israeli forces and settlers at 2,030 for that month across the occupied West Bank. Incidents were concentrated in the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate with 157, followed by Nablus with 137 and Hebron with 120.
Palestinian medical teams responded promptly to the scene in Nablus, treating the injured before transferring some to Rafidia Hospital for further care. WAFA highlighted that the Red Crescent crews operated under difficult conditions amid the continued presence of Israeli forces in the area. The Palestinian Ministry of Health has tracked numerous injuries from similar events throughout the year, though it has released no immediate update on the latest victims’ identities.
