The GCC Secretariat General released a statement on June 28, 2026, in which Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi expressed his condemnation and denunciation in the strongest terms of the terrorist Iranian attacks using ballistic missiles and drones against Bahrain and Kuwait. Albudaiwi emphasised that these treacherous attacks constitute a direct threat to the security, stability, and safety of citizens and residents on the territories of the two countries. The statement added that the attacks represent a blatant violation of the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter. It noted that the continuation of these Iranian attacks actively undermines ongoing regional and international efforts aimed at consolidating peace and security and resolving the crisis.

In the same statement, Albudaiwi underscored the GCC’s absolute support for all measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait to cement their security, safeguard their sovereignty, and protect their peoples and residents. The official document was published on the GCC website and distributed through news agencies including QNA. This move reflects the organisation’s standard protocol for addressing threats to member states.

Asharq Al-Awsat reported on June 11, 2026, that the GCC Secretary-General had also condemned Iranian attacks on Jordan in addition to Bahrain and Kuwait. The newspaper stated that Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s full support for all measures taken by the three countries to strengthen their security and protect their territorial integrity. The report cited SPA as the source of the information. Similar coverage appeared in other regional outlets tracking the developments.

Middle East Monitor reported that the attacks targeted civilian objects, infrastructure, headquarters and diplomatic missions in Bahrain and Kuwait. The June 3 article described the GCC response as a denunciation of Iran’s dangerous escalation. The publication noted that the statement warned of the risks these actions pose to broader peace initiatives in the area.

On June 6, SANA news agency reported that Egypt joined in the condemnation, with Albudaiwi stressing that the security of Kuwait and Bahrain is an integral part of the GCC’s collective security. The agency quoted the Secretary-General as saying Iran’s continued targeting of infrastructure and civilian facilities constitutes an attempt to destabilize the region. The report emphasised that member states stand in solidarity with both countries and support all measures to protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
