Bahrain’s Interior Ministry announced the activation of sirens throughout the kingdom on Thursday, according to a statement it posted on the X platform. The ministry urged citizens and residents to remain calm, head to the nearest safe place and follow official news channels for further information. Its communication came shortly after the country’s defense command detailed successful interceptions of incoming threats.

The General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force stated Wednesday that its air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed a number of hostile Iranian aerial attacks, the Interior Ministry’s announcement indicated. No casualties or damage were reported from the intercepted strikes in the official updates. The force’s assessment formed the basis for the subsequent public alert.

AFP reported that the siren activation occurred nearly two weeks into renewed US-Iran hostilities that have featured repeated attacks on the Gulf kingdom. The news agency placed the latest incident within a pattern of daily alerts that have kept Bahraini authorities on high alert since mid-July. Regional monitors tracked similar warnings on multiple prior occasions during the same period.

Al Arabiya’s correspondent in Manama confirmed that sirens were audible in the capital, according to the broadcaster’s coverage of the Interior Ministry statement. The network’s reporting aligned with accounts from Iran International, which noted the Wednesday alert in its dispatch citing the same ministry source. Both outlets emphasized the call for public calm amid the unfolding events.

Bahrain hosts the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Manama, a presence that has drawn attention during periods of heightened tension with Iran, as noted in multiple regional security assessments. The kingdom’s strategic location in the Persian Gulf has positioned it as a key node in maritime security operations for the area. Official Bahraini statements have not directly linked the intercepted attacks to specific targets but described them as hostile aerial threats.

The Interior Ministry’s X post reiterated the need for residents to adhere strictly to verified channels of information during the alert. Its instructions stressed avoiding unconfirmed reports that could cause unnecessary alarm. Authorities have maintained this messaging across several similar incidents in recent days.
