Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement Thursday condemning Iranian attacks on Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain. The ministry described the strikes as a flagrant violation of the targeted states’ sovereignty and a dangerous escalation that undermines security and stability in the Gulf region. It rejected all pretexts for such actions and demanded an immediate halt to the attacks in accordance with international law and norms.

According to the ministry, Egypt stands in full solidarity with the Gulf states and supports any measures they take to defend their security and territorial integrity. The statement highlighted that the security of Arab Gulf countries forms an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security. It warned that such violations increase regional tensions and called for adherence to the principles of good neighbourly relations.

The ministry has consistently taken similar positions in response to prior Iranian actions in the area. Earlier statements condemned attacks on Saudi and Qatari tankers as well as other targets in the Gulf, records from the foreign ministry indicate. These responses reflect Egypt’s broader diplomatic efforts to promote de-escalation amid recurring incidents.

The latest condemnation follows reported Iranian reprisals after United States strikes on Iran linked to attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. That escalation has threatened a fragile de-escalation process, including an Islamabad memorandum of understanding that Egypt and several other countries welcomed. The ministry affirmed its commitment to international law as the basis for resolving such disputes.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty renewed the condemnation during phone calls with Arab counterparts last week, the ministry reported. In those discussions, he emphasised Egypt’s support for the affected nations and the need for collective action to safeguard regional stability. The outreach came as part of ongoing coordination among Arab states facing common challenges.
