SCG said in a statement that ASEAN industries are undergoing structural transformation and must continuously strengthen capabilities, resilience and regional cooperation to support sustainable long-term growth. Thammasak Sethaudom, president and chief executive officer of SCG, emphasized the importance of ongoing adaptation in a volatile environment. The company views ASEAN as a key growth engine alongside China, backed by strong fundamentals in population, trade connectivity and investment flows. Figures from the Asian Development Bank project regional GDP growth of around 4.7 percent, which the statement cited as evidence of ASEAN’s expanding role in global industrial networks.

Each ASEAN economy contributes complementary strengths in manufacturing efficiency, innovation capability, talent and policy support, creating strong potential for deeper integration, the statement continued. SCG also recognizes China as an important long-term strategic partner and sees opportunities to enhance industrial cooperation and build more efficient, interconnected regional value chains that support shared development. The announcement builds on SCG’s recent calls for Thai and ASEAN businesses to bolster competitiveness amid emerging global rules of competition, as reported on the company’s news channel days earlier.

SCG is executing a phased strategy to strengthen long-term competitiveness, according to the release. In the short term the focus lies on enhancing operational resilience through energy efficiency, clean energy adoption and supply chain stability to navigate global volatility. These steps form the foundation for immediate stability in an uncertain economic landscape.

For the medium term covering 2026 to 2027, SCG plans to expand ASEAN operational capabilities through robotics, artificial intelligence and digital transformation. Key initiatives include ethane flexibility development at Long Son Petrochemicals and potential petrochemical value chain cooperation in Thailand. The company is also expanding its portfolio of green products, smart value products and high value added products.

From 2026 onward the long-term phase will drive sustainable growth through clean energy, circular economy development and carbon reduction across the value chain under the Inclusive Green Growth framework. Units including SCGC, SCGP and SCG Cleanergy will lead these efforts, the statement said. SCG, which traces its heritage back more than 113 years as a diversified industrial group operating in cement and building materials, chemicals, packaging and clean energy, integrates environmental, social and governance principles throughout its operations.

The release positioned robotics and artificial intelligence as key enablers that are transforming industrial operations, supply chains and innovation systems. At the same time human capability remains central to value creation, with SCG positioning itself as an organization of opportunities that emphasizes continuous upskilling and enterprise-wide transformation. Future industrial competitiveness will be defined by collaboration and connectivity, SCG concluded.

ASEAN and its partners including China have strong potential to deepen cooperation, strengthen regional linkages and jointly build a resilient and sustainable industrial ecosystem in an evolving global economy, according to the statement. The company’s approach aligns with broader regional efforts to adapt to post-pandemic supply chain complexities and tightening environmental standards across the bloc.
