Skyro announced the launch in a statement distributed through Media OutReach Newswire, detailing how the reusable revolving credit product operates entirely within its mobile application without requiring physical cards or traditional card networks. Customers gain immediate access to their approved limit upon scanning any QR Ph code, the national QR payment standard now accepted at more than 90 percent of merchant locations nationwide. The pilot phase demonstrated strong uptake for routine spending categories ranging from groceries and medicine to fuel and restaurant meals at major chains including SM, Mercury Drug, Watsons, Jollibee, McDonald’s and DALI Supermarket.

Eligible users start with credit lines between PHP 1,000 and PHP 10,000, equivalent to roughly USD 17 to USD 170, with responsible repayment allowing increases up to PHP 100,000, the company statement said. Purchases qualify for an interest-free period of up to 45 days and earn 1 percent cashback redeemable within the app on future transactions. Nasim Aliev, Skyro co-founder, said in the announcement “Our goal is to provide access to affordable credit for underserved communities across Southeast Asia at a time when everyday expenses continue to rise and consumers’ financial priorities are evolving.”

Aliev added that modern consumers require solutions aligned with actual daily spending patterns rather than rigid loan structures. The reusable design lets customers borrow, repay and redraw from the same limit without repeated applications, according to the company’s release. This structure aims to deliver both flexibility and cost savings through the grace period and cashback mechanism.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data cited in Skyro’s announcement indicates that only half of Filipino adults maintain a formal financial account, highlighting persistent inclusion gaps the new product seeks to narrow. QR-based payment infrastructure continues expanding rapidly across the region, creating an opening for digital credit layered directly onto existing merchant acceptance networks. Skyro’s approach leverages this infrastructure to sustain customer engagement beyond one-time loans.

In the three years since its founding, Skyro has scaled to more than one million active customers in the Philippines while building a credit portfolio exceeding $200 million, the statement reported. The group applies proprietary data science, artificial intelligence for credit decisions and alternative data scoring to evaluate underserved applicants. Its modular technology platform supports rapid product deployment tailored to local market conditions.

Skyro described its longer-term objective as becoming the leading full-spectrum financial services provider across multiple emerging markets worldwide. The Philippine rollout represents the initial step in a broader Southeast Asian strategy focused on populations facing limited access to conventional banking. The company positioned the reusable credit line as a tool for ongoing financial relationship building rather than isolated borrowing events.
