The General Directorate of Civil Defense announced that the danger had passed in Khamis Mushait Governorate. Residents received instructions to keep following civil defense guidelines while avoiding any gatherings or filming at the scene. In the event of an emergency, the directorate directed the public to contact 998.

This alert marked the fourth time in a single day that authorities activated the warning system for the southwestern province. A similar early warning had been declared for Abha City nearby before officials lifted it as well. The sequence of alerts unfolded as cross-border tensions with Houthi forces intensified.

Yemen’s Houthis stated that they targeted an airbase in Khamis Mushait along with oil facilities in surrounding areas earlier in the week. The group characterized the operation as one of its most significant actions against Saudi Arabia since the U.S.-Israeli confrontation with Iran began in February. Saudi officials described the strikes as deliberate attempts to hit civilian and economic sites.

The Saudi-led coalition reported that at least 73 people sustained injuries across four southern cities including Khamis Mushait from the preceding attacks. Coalition statements indicated the Houthis maintained pressure on national infrastructure and assets into the following day. No fresh casualty updates tied directly to Thursday’s alerts were provided by authorities.

Clashes between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis have risen sharply over recent months. The increase has generated worries about a possible slide back into full-scale conflict across the border. A United Nations-brokered truce had succeeded in curbing major fighting since it took hold in 2022.

Civil defense protocols in the Asir region call for such public notifications whenever threats emerge. The directorate stressed the need for compliance to maintain safety across affected communities. Monitoring of the situation continues through the agency’s established alert channels.
