The Saudi Arabian Civil Defence issued a statement confirming that the potential danger had passed in those six locations following activation of the national early warning system. Officials advised the population to persist in observing all safety directives even as the immediate threat subsided. The directorate specifically cautioned against assembling in groups, capturing images or videos near incident sites and recommended reporting any anomalies to the 911 emergency line.

Reuters reported that the alerts were connected to a surge in strikes by Yemen’s Houthi movement, which has targeted both civilian areas and energy assets within the kingdom. The group has simultaneously advanced toward the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a vital maritime chokepoint for global shipping. A strike damaged the East-West pipeline on September 11, according to satellite imagery analyzed by the news service.

Yanbu functions as Saudi Arabia’s chief oil loading port on the Red Sea, processing several million barrels daily for international markets. The civil defence has employed a series of siren tones to communicate emergency statuses, with the concluding steady signal denoting that the hazard is no longer present. Residents received instructions via mobile notifications to seek shelter indoors away from windows and balconies during the alert phase. The directorate continues to monitor developments closely across the affected regions.

Comparable announcements have been made in preceding days for southern provinces such as Najran and Jazan as well as cities like Abha and Khamis Mushait, the General Directorate of Civil Defence noted in prior updates. These measures form part of broader efforts to safeguard the population amid ongoing regional conflicts involving the Houthis. The directorate continues to urge full adherence to its guidelines to avert unnecessary risks.

The escalation of Houthi activities has drawn international attention, with the group also disrupting commercial vessels in the Red Sea. Saudi officials have asserted the kingdom’s prerogative to defend its territory and citizens in line with established international norms, according to statements in related diplomatic exchanges. The civil defence directorate operates the early warning platform to deliver timely information during such security events.
