Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense issued a statement detailing an Iranian strike that hit a building belonging to a Chinese company in the north of the country on July 30, 2026. The assault resulted in the death of one worker while causing significant structural damage to the site, according to the official account. Defense Ministry spokesperson Colonel Staff Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan described the event as part of the sinful Iranian aggression and confirmed that authorities had responded without delay.

The ministry’s statement emphasised that Kuwaiti armed forces continue to perform their duties at a state of full readiness while putting in place further protective measures across the country. Coordination with all relevant security agencies remains ongoing to address the aftermath and reinforce national defences. Al-Atwan noted that the incident had been met with an immediate operational response from military units already positioned in the area.

This strike forms part of a pattern of Iranian attacks on Kuwaiti targets that have unfolded over recent weeks, according to separate statements from Kuwaiti authorities. Earlier assaults on power stations and water desalination plants between July 17 and July 22 damaged critical civilian infrastructure and led to at least one additional fatality at a related facility, the Ministry of Electricity reported at the time. Jordanian forces separately intercepted multiple Iranian missiles on at least four consecutive days during the same period, regional defence updates indicated.

The Ministry of Defense has not released the name of the Chinese company involved or the nationality of the worker who was killed. Initial details provided by Al-Atwan in the official statement deliberately omitted further identifying information pending completion of the investigation. The spokesperson stressed that all necessary steps were being taken to protect both citizens and foreign workers employed at similar sites across northern Kuwait.

Chinese commercial interests in Kuwait have expanded steadily in construction, energy and infrastructure projects over the past decade, though the ministry’s statement did not link the targeted building to any specific ongoing contract. The attack coincides with broader regional instability stemming from the wider conflict involving Iranian forces and their adversaries, a context repeatedly referenced in recent Kuwaiti government communications. Security officials continue to monitor potential follow-on threats while maintaining operational secrecy around exact response tactics.

Kuwait’s armed forces have conducted similar readiness drills in response to previous incidents involving cross-border aggression, the Defense Ministry has stated in prior briefings. The latest measures include heightened patrols and rapid-reaction protocols designed to safeguard both economic installations and residential zones in vulnerable border areas. Al-Atwan’s statement concluded by reaffirming the military’s commitment to defending Kuwaiti sovereignty without providing additional operational specifics.
