Bank of China (Hong Kong) and Television Broadcasts Limited hosted the Wealth Management Expo 2026 in Hong Kong on June 27, where officials and experts explored enterprise globalisation and the silver economy. The event, themed around empowering businesses to go global, coincided with the start of the national 15th Five-Year Plan that backs Hong Kong’s wealth management ambitions, according to a joint statement from the organisers.

According to a Media OutReach Newswire release from Bank of China (Hong Kong) and Television Broadcasts Limited, the Wealth Management Expo 2026 was held under the theme “Empowering Enterprises to Go Global, Pioneering the Blue Ocean of Silver Economy.” The event featured prominent speakers who provided market pulse insights and visionary perspectives on key topics. Activities ranged from an opening forum and summit forum to thematic workshops and an immersive digital experience zone showcasing innovative financial tools. The organisations positioned the gathering as a platform for exchanging ideas on the international landscape, the use of RMB, enterprises expanding abroad, the silver economy and wealth management approaches.

Deputy CEO of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Stephen Chan addressed the audience on the significance of the 15th Five-Year Plan. “This year marks the inaugural year of the nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan, which clearly supports Hong Kong in strengthening its role as an international asset and wealth management centre,” Chan said. “Against this backdrop, Hong Kong, as a vital bridge between the Chinese Mainland and the rest of the world, is set to tap into an unprecedented opportunity for growth.” He added that the bank would actively align with national policies and the HKSAR Government’s direction by deepening regional business development, promoting the international use of RMB and fulfilling corporate social responsibilities.

The release listed Acting Financial Secretary Michael Wong and Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui as key government attendees who shared their views. Hui focused on Hong Kong’s status as a global offshore RMB hub and its support for enterprises seeking to expand overseas. Other speakers included Standing Committee member of the National Committee of the CPPCC Dr Ko Wing Man, TVB Business Operations General Manager Siu Sai Wo, Mainland Headwear Holdings Deputy Chairman Pauline Ngan and Hong Kong Investment Funds Association Chairman Sam Yu. BOCHK RMB Business Executive Director Jack Yang also participated in the discussions.

Contributions also came from Chinachem Group Elderly Care Services Director Angus Chan, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation CEO Terry Wong and BOC Group Life Assurance CEO Wilson Tang. The sessions addressed practical aspects of wealth management tailored to demographic shifts associated with the silver economy. Sessions covered elderly care and retirement solutions as part of the silver economy track.

The expo takes place against a backdrop of strong growth in Hong Kong’s wealth management sector. Boston Consulting Group data from its 2026 Global Wealth Report shows the city has overtaken Switzerland as the world’s largest cross-border wealth management centre. More than 60 percent of external capital comes from mainland China, driven by IPO activity and equity market gains, the report found. This positions the city as a key venue for events addressing cross-border financial strategies.

By partnering with TVB, BOCHK was able to leverage media capabilities to broaden the event’s audience and impact. The combination of policy discussions, expert analysis and interactive elements provided attendees with a multifaceted view of current opportunities in global and domestic wealth management. The release concluded by noting the fruitful outcomes achieved through the various insights shared during the expo.
