Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, issued a statement through the GCC Secretariat condemning in the strongest terms renewed Iranian attacks on Kuwaiti territory that struck both a government facility and civilian equipment belonging to a private company on Bubiyan Island. The official release detailed how the strikes represented a flagrant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty along with a direct threat to its security, stability and the safety of citizens and residents. Albudaiwi further characterized the incidents as part of Iran’s continuing hostile policies that undermine regional security.

According to the GCC statement, the Iranian actions constitute a highly dangerous escalation, a grave violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, as well as war crimes requiring international accountability and prosecution given the deliberate targeting of infrastructure and civilian facilities. The secretary-general warned that such behavior poses risks that extend beyond the immediate targets and could further destabilize the wider Gulf area. This assessment drew on the full text published on the council’s official website rather than secondary reporting.

Albudaiwi extended the condemnation to include parallel strikes on Jordan while separate accounts from the Saudi Press Agency and Arab News noted similar actions affecting Bahrain. The GCC expressed its full solidarity with the State of Kuwait and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in response to these events. The statement affirmed support for all measures the affected countries take to protect their security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Saudi Press Agency reported that Albudaiwi viewed the acts as treacherous terrorist operations that represent an irresponsible escalation and a blatant violation of all international laws. Coverage by Iran International and Al Arabiya indicated the Kuwait strikes injured civilian workers in addition to damaging the targeted sites. These details supplemented the core GCC announcement without altering its central message of unified opposition.

Bubiyan Island in northern Kuwait has faced previous security incidents, and the latest attacks on both state and private assets underscore the breadth of the alleged operations according to the GCC release. The secretary-general’s remarks, issued two days prior to follow-up coverage on August 1, reinforce the council’s consistent position on threats to member states. Regional outlets including Arab News emphasized the call for global prosecution of those responsible for hitting civilian infrastructure.
