The Bahraini Ministry of Interior stated in an announcement distributed by the Qatar News Agency that air raid sirens had been sounded throughout the kingdom early on July 20. The post on the X platform came a short while before the report’s publication and formed part of a series of alerts tied to regional hostilities. Officials called on all citizens and residents to avoid panic during the alert while maintaining access to verified information sources.

According to the interior ministry’s instructions, people should proceed immediately to the nearest safe place when the sirens are heard. The directive also requires following updates exclusively from verified government channels to prevent the spread of misinformation during such incidents. The ministry said, “The siren has been sounded. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.”

Al Jazeera reported the previous day that Iran had carried out multiple waves of missile and drone strikes targeting US assets in Bahrain and Kuwait. Bahrain’s military confirmed that its air defenses successfully intercepted the incoming threats on July 19 with no reported casualties on the ground from those barrages. Kuwaiti authorities separately detailed damage to a power and water desalination plant that caught fire following one of the attacks.

The latest siren activation on Monday marks at least the fourth instance in recent days for both Bahrain and Kuwait according to regional media monitoring compiled by Middle East Eye. Jordan also experienced similar warnings with sirens sounding as Iranian projectiles were intercepted near its territory by allied forces. Israeli forces reported downing a missile in the Aqaba area during the coordinated regional response to the strikes.

United States Central Command figures indicated that one American service member was killed and another injured in a related incident in northern Iraq on July 18 when a downed Iranian drone was detonated under controlled conditions. Additional unidentified remains were discovered at a prior strike site in Jordan that had claimed two US lives in an earlier attack. The ongoing US airstrikes against Iranian targets in provinces including Hormozgan, Khuzestan and on Qeshm island entered their eighth consecutive night by July 20.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had blocked two vessels in the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for the American operations across its territory. The Iranian nuclear agency condemned what it described as an attack on an under-construction facility during the US raids that it said threatened the country’s atomic infrastructure. These developments have prompted heightened alerts across multiple Gulf states that host American military installations.
