The Muslim World League strongly condemned the continued aggression by the Houthi terrorist militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a particular focus on its targeting of Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif. In a statement issued by the General Secretariat and reported by Asharq Al-Awsat, Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa reiterated the condemnation of these attacks that violate religious values as well as international and humanitarian laws and norms. Al-Issa reaffirmed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to deter the aggressors, safeguard its security and protect its citizens and residents.

The Saudi-led coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen said the Houthi attacks on Monday resulted in minor to moderate injuries to 13 civilians along with damage to seven houses and two vehicles. Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki stated that the militia’s approach showed escalation and deliberate targeting of civilian objects. The coalition vowed to respond firmly with all necessary operational measures to protect Saudi sovereignty and confront the hostile actions.

Al-Issa spoke on behalf of the MWL’s councils, bodies, global assemblies and the Muslim peoples under its umbrella when he highlighted how the strikes confirm the criminal pattern of the militia in targeting civilians. The statement also addressed the Houthis’ continued attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea that threaten international maritime navigation. This latest condemnation from the league based in Makkah follows a series of similar statements issued throughout September as documented on its official press releases page.

Nearly 94,000 people have been displaced across Yemen due to renewed fighting and related flooding with Taiz and Lahj among the worst affected areas, The National reported. Houthi forces have seized the port of Mokha and strategic islands near the Bab al-Mandab strait amid the escalation. Human Rights Watch has assessed that at least three recent Houthi attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden likely amounted to war crimes.

Kuwait, Egypt and Qatar joined the regional chorus of condemnation with statements that described the Houthi actions as violations of sovereignty, disgraceful aggression and a threat to key shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb. The MWL has maintained a consistent stance against such attacks through its network of scholars and international bodies. Al-Issa has used these platforms to emphasize adherence to legal norms and the protection of civilian lives in regional conflicts.
