Lebanon’s National News Agency said Israeli forces carried out the demolition operations at dawn Friday in Khiam while also striking several culverts along roads that link Haddatha, Taybeh and Kounine. The agency reported that machine gun fire targeted the outskirts of Majdal Zoun in the Tyre district that same morning. These actions fit a pattern of persistent Israeli military activity in the border zone that has continued for months despite diplomatic initiatives to reduce tensions.

The death toll from Israeli aggression against Lebanon since March 2 has risen to 4,329 killed with 12,233 injured, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. The ministry has updated those figures regularly as incidents have continued in the south. An Amnesty International investigation into strikes in March found that 24 civilians including 12 children were killed in three separate air strikes on civilian homes.

Such operations persist despite a US-brokered framework signed in June that aims to end hostilities and allow Lebanese army redeployment in the south, Al Jazeera reported. The agreement requires Hezbollah to disarm in return for Israeli withdrawal from occupied territory and sets up pilot zones for initial pullbacks. Lebanese officials are due to continue implementation talks in Italy next month.

The Israeli military has stated that its actions target infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah. A Reuters assessment earlier this year indicated Israeli forces had carried out demolitions in dozens of villages since the initial ceasefire took hold in April. Senior Lebanese politicians have described the scale of destruction to civilian homes as a war crime.

Satellite imagery reviewed by BBC Verify showed the extent of demolitions in at least seven border towns and villages with entire sections reduced to rubble. The pattern has affected long-term habitability in the affected areas. Residents have continued clearing debris in locations such as Ghandouriyeh in recent weeks.

Lebanon’s National News Agency has also reported an Israeli strike on an ambulance in Nabatieh al-Fawqa a day earlier that injured two medics. The Health Ministry described that attack as a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian laws. The latest incidents come as diplomatic efforts focus on solidifying security arrangements across the southern region.
