Three Palestinians Killed in Israeli Shelling of Gaza City Areas

The Palestinian news agency WAFA cited medical sources on July 16 in reporting that Israeli shelling had killed three Palestinians and wounded several others in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood and Al-Tuffah area. Emergency responders moved the deceased and injured to hospitals in the area. The report offered limited additional information on the circumstances of the strike.

WAFA has issued numerous similar updates in recent months detailing casualties from strikes in various parts of the Gaza Strip. The agency relies on statements from hospital officials and rescue workers for its accounts of individual events. A WAFA report from July 15 conveyed the Palestinian health ministry’s updated count of 73,246 killed since October 7, 2023. The ministry releases its data without separating civilian from military casualties. WAFA regularly publishes these compilations as they are issued. The July 15 revision incorporated 13 new fatalities and 18 wounded from the previous day.
