Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it strongly condemned Iranian attacks on Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Jordan, describing them as a serious escalation and a violation of international law. The ministry denounced the strikes as a repeated and blatant escalation that violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the four countries. It also cited breaches of the United Nations Charter along with UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which had condemned previous Iranian actions against regional states earlier this year.
According to the ministry’s statement, Kuwait reaffirmed its full solidarity with Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Jordan. The statement expressed support for all measures the affected countries take to safeguard their security, stability and national sovereignty. Such backing reflects Kuwait’s consistent diplomatic approach to collective regional security concerns.
The ministry’s statement warned that continuation of such actions threatens the security and stability of the region. It called on Iran to immediately halt the attacks, respect the sovereignty of states and resolve disputes through peaceful means and dialogue. The position forms part of a series of similar diplomatic responses issued across the Gulf in recent days.
The Iranian attacks took place early Thursday after the country’s Revolutionary Guards vowed retaliation for US strikes on Iranian territory, Arab News reported three days ago. Kuwait’s military said its air defence systems intercepted four missiles and 10 drones, with explosions heard across the country resulting from the interception operations. Bahrain reported comparable defensive successes while the incidents formed part of a broader wave that included strikes on Jordan, Qatar and Oman, according to an Al Jazeera dispatch published Sunday.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, adopted on March 11, had previously condemned Iran’s egregious attacks against Gulf Cooperation Council members and Jordan, a summary from the Security Council Report indicated. The resolution determined that the acts constituted a breach of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security while demanding that Iran halt its operations. It additionally condemned any Iranian efforts to obstruct navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a parallel statement that strongly condemned the repeated Iranian attacks on Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, describing them as a blatant violation of sovereignty and international law, according to the ministry’s official website. The Qatari statement reiterated full solidarity with the targeted countries and support for measures to preserve their sovereignty and security. A joint statement released in March by the United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates similarly condemned the Islamic Republic of Iran’s indiscriminate missile and drone attacks across the region, the US State Department reported at the time.
