The General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force issued a statement on July 9 detailing the interception of several Iranian air attacks. It said Iran continues its systematic aggression through criminal attacks using missiles and drones that target civilians in Bahrain. The command added that the air defense systems had successfully neutralized the threats.

Public safety formed a key element of the announcement from the Bahrain Defense Force. It urged everyone to exercise caution and avoid approaching or touching any unfamiliar or suspicious objects that could be remnants from the Iranian attack. The statement called for immediate reporting of such items to the authorities.

All weapons and units of the Bahrain Defense Force remain at the highest levels of readiness and are fully prepared to defend the country, the command stated. It confirmed its readiness to handle debris from the attacks safely. This ensures the safety of all citizens and residents in the kingdom.

The Bahrain Defense Force emphasized that the deliberate use of missiles and drones to target civilians and private property constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. Such actions have been a recurring feature of the regional conflict that escalated in early 2026, according to Bahrain Defence Force assessments. The kingdom hosts the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters, a detail noted in multiple accounts of Iranian targeting.

According to previous Bahrain Interior Ministry updates, falling shrapnel from intercepted Iranian drones has caused damage to homes and vehicles in Manama and Hamad Town on earlier occasions. One such incident resulted in minor injury to an 11-year-old girl, the ministry reported. These events prompted repeated condemnations from Bahraini authorities describing the strikes as a dangerous escalation.

Bahrain Defence Force data from earlier in the year placed cumulative interceptions at 188 missiles and 468 drones since the start of hostilities. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has claimed responsibility for strikes on targets in Gulf states hosting US bases, according to statements compiled by the Associated Press. The command provided no specific count for the projectiles involved in the July 9 incident.
