The Qatar Investment Authority has co-led a $200 million Series D funding round for Gatik along with Koch Disruptive Technologies as the autonomous trucking company seeks to expand from dozens of vehicles to thousands in coming years. Participants in the round included Millennium Management, ARK Invest and Intact Private Capital among others, bringing Gatik’s total capital raised to approximately $500 million since its founding. The California-based firm said in a statement that the proceeds will support fleet growth, technology development and workforce expansion to meet demand from major retailers and consumer goods companies. Gatik has focused on middle-mile routes that connect distribution centers to stores, a segment where predictable routes allow for safer deployment of driverless technology.

Gatik reported more than $600 million in contracted revenue alongside 85,000 fully driverless orders completed to date with a 99 percent on-time delivery rate. The company currently runs operations in Texas, Arizona and Arkansas in the United States as well as in Ontario, Canada. Its customers include PepsiCo, Loblaw, Walmart and Tyson Foods according to details released in the announcement. The firm targets deployment of more than 100 driverless trucks by the end of 2026 while continuing to refine its AI systems for live supply chain environments.

Abdulla Al-Kuwari, head of industrials at the Qatar Investment Authority, said in the statement, “Autonomous freight is transforming the global logistics industry, making it more efficient and reliable.” He added that the fund remains committed to supporting next-generation solution providers like Gatik that shape the future of freight infrastructure. Gatik co-founder and chief executive Gautam Narang stated that the round validates the company’s commercial leadership in autonomous freight built on real revenue and proven technology deployed daily in customer networks.

A Mordor Intelligence assessment found the global autonomous truck market reached $42.63 billion in 2026 and is projected to grow to $74.23 billion by 2031 at a compound annual growth rate of 11.73 percent. North America holds the largest regional share driven by regulatory approvals in states such as Texas and Arizona that enable fully driverless operations on mapped routes. The sector has attracted increasing sovereign and institutional capital as companies demonstrate revenue generation at scale rather than pure research and development. Gatik’s progress aligns with this shift toward commercial viability in autonomous logistics.

The Qatar Investment Authority, established in 2005, manages approximately $600 billion in assets and has broadened its portfolio into deep technology and infrastructure investments in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The fund’s participation in Gatik marks another step in backing hardware-focused artificial intelligence applications ranging from satellites to semiconductors and now autonomous vehicles. Earlier investments in similar domains include stakes in European satellite firm ICEYE and semiconductor equipment maker Nearfield Instruments according to portfolio tracking data. Such moves reflect a strategic emphasis on technologies that enhance long-term economic diversification.

Gatik specializes in Class 6 and 7 box trucks for repeated short-haul routes that have proven more amenable to automation than long-distance freight. The company said the fresh capital will fund entry into additional markets and deeper penetration within existing ones while hiring engineers and operational staff beyond its current 350-person workforce. Officials noted that customer demand from Fortune 50 companies has accelerated as supply chains seek greater reliability and flexibility. The announcement comes as interest in driverless commercial freight intensifies across North America and Europe.
