The GCC Ministerial Council on June 10, 2026, condemned Iranian drone and ballistic missile attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, describing them as blatant aggression against state sovereignty and a violation of international law and the UN Charter. In a statement issued after its 167th meeting in Manama, the council expressed full solidarity with the affected states, affirmed that an attack on one GCC member is an attack on all and called for Iran to immediately cease such actions.
According to the GCC Ministerial Council statement, the attacks represented a heinous Iranian aggression that the council followed with utmost concern and denunciation. The statement listed several points, condemning the brutal attacks in the strongest terms and considering them a flagrant violation of the principles of good neighbourliness. It affirmed that such hostile acts distance peoples, undermine trust and close the doors of dialogue while noting that aggression does not build relations or create stability. The council expressed its full solidarity and firm support with Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.
The Ministerial Council affirmed that the security of the GCC states is indivisible. It reassured citizens and residents that joint defence capabilities and air defence systems are confronting the attacks with high efficiency and readiness. The leaderships of the GCC states are moving forward in safeguarding the security and stability of the region, and these attacks will only increase the cohesion, determination and resolve of the peoples of the GCC states, the statement said. The council affirmed the established right of its states to defend themselves individually and collectively in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The statement held Iran fully responsible for these acts and their grave repercussions on the security of the region, international navigation and energy supplies. It demanded their immediate cessation and a complete end to any targeting of the GCC states, their interests and their citizens. The Ministerial Council called upon the Security Council and the international community to assume their responsibilities in condemning this aggression and holding its perpetrators accountable to ensure respect for sovereignty and preservation of peace and security.
Renewing the GCC states’ commitment to the option of peace, good neighbourliness and diplomatic solutions, the Ministerial Council posed a fundamental question to the aggressor on how future relations can be built amid the continuation of these attacks. The statement noted that persistence in the path of aggression will only lead to further isolation. It added that the door to understanding remains open to those who choose the language of wisdom and good neighbourliness.
The 167th meeting had been scheduled to discuss reports on the implementation of decisions from the 46th GCC Summit held in Manama in December 2025, according to GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi. Albudaiwi had announced the day before that the session would also cover strategic relations and the latest regional developments. This latest statement builds on the principle of indivisible security upheld by GCC leaders at the December 2025 summit, a Majalla article indicated. The attacks follow a series of Iranian strikes on GCC states in March 2026 amid broader regional conflict, an Atlantic Council dispatch reported.
