Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that the overall death toll from the conflict had risen to 74,382 Palestinians, with another 175,416 people wounded since October 7, 2023. The sources, cited by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, said hospitals received five more bodies and 18 injured in the previous 24 hours. Among those killed were four newly identified victims while rescue teams recovered two bodies from under rubble, according to the update.

The medical sources added that since the ceasefire agreement went into effect on October 11, 2025, at least 1,493 Palestinians have been killed and 5,299 injured. A total of 836 bodies have been retrieved from rubble during that period. The sources emphasised that many victims remain trapped under debris or lie in areas inaccessible to ambulance and civil defence crews.

Qatar News Agency carried the statement from Gaza medical sources, which aligns with parallel reporting from the Palestine News Network. The latest figures reflect a steady accumulation of casualties even after the ceasefire that was intended to halt major operations. Palestinian authorities have maintained that Israeli forces continue to conduct actions that result in civilian deaths and injuries.

Al Jazeera reported earlier this month that the three-year toll represents roughly one in every 30 people in Gaza, with at least 21,000 children among those killed. The network’s analysis, published on October 7, 2026, noted that more than 175,000 have been wounded, equating to about one in 13 residents. These proportions emerge from data compiled by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, which relies on hospital records and official registrations.

A United Kingdom-based fact-checking platform that monitors the data attributed the primary count to the Gaza Ministry of Health, which records only deaths directly tied to the conflict. The site noted that UN agencies republish the figures while stating they have not independently verified them. Estimates from various studies suggest the full toll, including those under rubble, is likely higher than the confirmed hospital numbers.

The Institute for Middle East Understanding referenced research from the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research that estimated between 100,000 and 126,000 violent deaths by late 2025. That assessment, cited in a fact sheet released this month, also pointed to a Lancet study from 2024 that projected an even larger indirect death count from disease and lack of medical care. Such independent projections add context to the official tallies released by Gaza health officials.

Regional news outlets including those in Qatar and Lebanon have continued to track the updates from Gaza medical sources. The consistent reporting underscores the scale of the humanitarian impact three years after the conflict began. International organisations have repeatedly called for greater access to verify casualty data and deliver aid to affected areas.
