The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced an upgraded Qatar Business Map platform that supplies entrepreneurs and investors with detailed market information along with location-based insights to guide commercial decisions throughout the country. According to the ministry, users can now examine commercial activity distribution by sector and geography while assessing potential sites for new projects with greater precision. The initiative forms part of wider digital transformation measures that have streamlined access to government data for both local and international stakeholders.
Ministry figures show the enhanced platform incorporates six distinct services designed to support comprehensive market research. One function known as AI Map Analysis enables detailed examination of economic indicators to clarify prevailing conditions across different areas. Additional tools allow review of foreign investment patterns and generation of combined data reports that highlight emerging opportunities in specific regions.
The ministry launched an e-commerce licence under Decision No. 25 of 2026 to further simplify entry into digital markets. This permit covers 194 approved commercial activities with an issuance fee set at 500 Qatari riyals and permits entirely online applications via the Single Window system. Such measures have reduced traditional barriers for digital businesses while maintaining regulatory oversight on website domains and transaction standards.
Qatar has recorded notable gains in global digital governance rankings over recent assessment periods. A PwC Middle East assessment found the country climbed from 78th to 53rd in the UN E-Government Development Index and secured fifth place worldwide for telecommunications infrastructure. These advances coincide with near-complete 5G network coverage that has supported one of the highest internet penetration rates across the MENA region.
Updates to the ministry mobile application now permit additional transactions to be completed digitally without requiring physical visits to government offices. The ministry reported that these enhancements build upon earlier reforms focused on improving the overall investor experience and accelerating business establishment processes. Data from the platform assists users in identifying suitable locations while evaluating competitive landscapes in target sectors.
The combined digital offerings align with Qatar’s National Development Strategy that prioritises knowledge-based economic growth through expanded online services. Ministry data places emphasis on providing verified market statistics that reduce information gaps for foreign investors evaluating entry options. Officials have continued to expand the range of analytical capabilities available on the Business Map to sustain momentum in attracting diversified investment.
