The WAM report described the UAE-India relationship as a growing strategic and economic partnership that serves as an effective model of cooperation within BRICS. It is underpinned by historic ties, shared interests and major projects promoting trade, investment and logistics connectivity. The two countries aim to increase bilateral trade to $200 billion by 2032. This expansion builds on the success of recent years where trade has consistently surpassed the $100 billion threshold.
According to the report, the partnership is advancing through strategic initiatives including Bharat Mart, the Virtual Trade Corridor and cooperation under the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. These efforts are strengthening supply chain integration and opening new routes for trade and investment between the two nations and broader global markets. The UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which entered into force in 2022 as the UAE’s first such deal, has played a key role in boosting flows of goods, services and investments while expanding opportunities for private sector players in both countries.
A Khaleej Times assessment placed cumulative UAE investments in India at more than $25 billion across infrastructure, renewable energy, logistics, real estate, technology and financial services. Indian businesses have invested over $16 billion in the UAE with companies establishing manufacturing facilities and regional headquarters there. The report further noted that nearly 5 million Indian nationals reside in the UAE, forming the largest expatriate community and supporting one of the world’s busiest air corridors with more than 1,200 flights weekly.
Gulf News reported that the two sides are seeking to deepen investment ties in the new economy, tourism, entrepreneurship, food industries, agriculture and logistics. During recent meetings UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri highlighted opportunities for UAE companies in Madhya Pradesh. The discussions also covered economic policies and regulatory frameworks to strengthen business links between the two countries.
The growing partnership reflects the UAE’s commitment to exchanging expertise within BRICS and building sustainable economic ties, the WAM report concluded. It positions the UAE as a key gateway for Indian trade to markets in the Middle East, Africa and Europe. Cooperation in sectors like fintech, artificial intelligence and food security is gaining momentum alongside traditional energy ties.
DP World is investing billions in Indian ports and logistics parks as part of this integration according to industry reports from The National. This infrastructure development supports the broader goals of the Virtual Trade Corridor and IMEC. The combined initiatives are expected to enhance resilience in supply chains amid global uncertainties.
