Qatar News Agency reported that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has strongly condemned drone attacks launched from Iraqi territory targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The pan-Islamic body issued its position through an official statement that outlined concerns over the incidents. Hissein Brahim Taha took a central role in articulating the OIC response as the group’s secretary-general. The statement arrived amid ongoing regional tensions that have prompted multiple such expressions of concern in recent years.

According to the Qatar News Agency dispatch, Taha described the attacks as a flagrant violation of international law. He characterized them as a serious and direct escalation in the same statement. Taha additionally flagged the actions as a threat to regional security and stability.

The OIC statement reaffirmed the organization’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, Qatar News Agency reported. Taha expressed support for all measures the Kingdom takes to safeguard its sovereignty. That backing explicitly included protections for Saudi security and territorial integrity as core elements.

Arab News reported on March 30, 2022, that the OIC had condemned repeated attacks on Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in an earlier episode. The organization called on the militia involved to stop the attacks immediately and engage in dialogue at that time. Such precedents illustrate the OIC’s consistent approach to incidents affecting member states’ security.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation maintains its headquarters in Jeddah and represents 57 member countries across multiple continents, an OIC overview shows. Taha has led the body since November 2021 and has addressed numerous security-related developments during his tenure. The July 28 statement fits within this pattern of responses to threats against member states.

Qatar News Agency noted that the OIC continues to monitor the situation following its condemnation. The statement stopped short of detailing specific attack timelines or casualties. Saudi authorities have not issued immediate public comment on the latest incidents according to available reports.
