Jordan’s army said it shot down three Iranian missiles on Thursday morning with a fourth landing harmlessly in an uninhabited area while also downing six drones the previous night. The military stated that the operations resulted in no human casualties or material damage. Jordanian officials stressed that air defense units acted swiftly to protect national airspace from the incoming threats. The intercepts formed part of a coordinated regional response to the Iranian salvoes.

Kuwait’s military announced overnight that it had intercepted hostile drone threats without providing specifics on their intended targets or the number involved. The statement underscored that defensive measures successfully neutralized the risks posed by the unmanned vehicles. Kuwaiti authorities coordinated closely with allied forces during the incident to ensure comprehensive coverage of vulnerable areas. This action aligns with heightened alert levels across the Gulf amid the ongoing exchanges.

Iran’s army and Revolutionary Guards claimed that the missiles and drones were directed at US assets located in Jordan and Kuwait according to reports citing the Iranian statements. The claims emerged as the US military confirmed it had carried out a 12th consecutive night of strikes against Iranian targets. American officials have not yet verified whether any facilities came under direct attack from the latest Iranian barrage. Iran’s military framed the operation as a direct reply to the sustained American campaign.

The events mark an escalation in a conflict that has drawn in multiple regional actors with air defenses across Jordan and Kuwait engaging Iranian projectiles. Jordan first demonstrated its interception capabilities during the major Iranian assault on Israel in April 2024 when it downed dozens of drones and missiles according to data compiled by the US Department of Defense. Kuwait which hosts key American military installations has invested in layered air defense networks that integrate with coalition radar systems to counter similar threats.

US Central Command has described the ongoing strikes as necessary to degrade Iranian capabilities that threaten American and partner forces in the region. The Pentagon’s assessment places the current operation as part of a broader effort that began after attacks on US positions by Iranian-aligned groups. No immediate updates were released on potential damage from the Iranian attempts or further planned responses. Regional security officials continue to monitor developments closely to prevent wider spillover.

Jordan and Kuwait have both reaffirmed their defensive commitments while urging restraint to avoid further destabilization of an already tense area. Military spokesmen in Amman and Kuwait City emphasized that their forces remain on high alert for any additional incursions. The combined intercepts demonstrate the effectiveness of pre-positioned defense assets supplied through long-standing security partnerships with the United States. International observers note that such incidents risk prolonging the cycle of retaliatory actions between the involved parties.
