AmCham Kuwait will hold its Annual Gala and Excellence Awards on 21 October, bringing its business community together weeks after the chamber outlined a new three-year direction and announced a cooperation agreement with Petrochemical Industries Company. The gathering marks its 41st anniversary, with the commercial relationship between Kuwait and the United States providing the backdrop.

The 2026 event programme describes a gathering of government officials, diplomats, corporate leaders and members. For businesses following the relationship, the timing also puts attention on work taking place between the annual receptions: investment introductions, sector discussions and links between Kuwaiti enterprises and American companies.

Two September developments give this year’s occasion a specific context. The chamber has set out how it intends to work with members over the next three years, while its agreement with PIC identifies petrochemicals as an area for closer commercial engagement. Both put business access and industry relationships at the centre of its autumn agenda.

A September reset

At its Back to Business reception on 16 September, AmCham Kuwait chair Dr. Arezou Harraf described a strategy built around advocacy, industry connections and access to decision-makers. The chamber’s account placed emphasis on practical outcomes for members, including addressing business issues and identifying partners.

The reception’s attendees included Deputy Foreign Minister Hamad Suleiman Mashaan Al-Mashaan, US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Steven Butler and KDIPA’s deputy director general for business development, Mohammed Mulla Yaqoub. Their participation illustrates the range of institutions involved in the chamber’s recent programme; it does not establish the guest list for October’s gala.

Harraf also outlined efforts to deepen engagement with the US Chamber of Commerce. The stated purpose was to bring the experience of American companies operating in Kuwait into wider commercial discussions. Together, these priorities indicate a programme concerned with how companies engage with institutions as well as with one another.

Petrochemicals give the agenda a concrete focus

A separate announcement dated 22 September described cooperation between AmCham Kuwait and PIC, the petrochemical subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. The agreement is intended to widen PIC’s relationships with US companies and support the exploration of commercial opportunities across the petrochemical value chain.

The identified counterparties extend beyond investors. They include producers, traders, distributors, industrial customers, engineering firms and technology providers. Planned areas of cooperation cover market information, executive discussions, trade missions, business delegations and industry forums.

That scope makes the agreement relevant to the operational side of international business. A petrochemical company’s overseas relationships can involve both the customers for its products and the firms supplying technology and engineering expertise. The announcement sets out a framework for those connections, rather than a completed transaction or a disclosed investment commitment.

The relationship extends across goods and services

Official trade figures help explain the breadth of the business audience. The Office of the United States Trade Representative estimates that two-way goods and services trade with Kuwait totalled $7.7 billion in 2025. Its rounded figures put goods trade at approximately $3.9 billion and services trade at approximately $3.9 billion.

US goods exports to Kuwait were estimated at $2.5 billion, while US services exports were $2.1 billion. In the other direction, US imports from Kuwait amounted to approximately $1.4 billion in goods and $1.7 billion in services. These are bilateral trade flows, rather than the value of investment holdings or announced projects.

The near-equal scale of goods and services is significant. It shows why a discussion of the relationship cannot be confined to physical shipments. Services are a substantial part of the exchange, alongside the industrial and commercial activity represented by merchandise trade.

The chamber’s own working structure reflects that breadth. Its 2026–2027 focus groups cover banking and finance, energy, healthcare, education, logistics, legal affairs and IT and cybersecurity, among other fields. A separate small-enterprise group includes SME members and corporate members working with smaller businesses.

These groups give the wider network a sector-by-sector structure. A healthcare supplier, an education institution and a logistics operator may share an interest in bilateral trade, while needing different conversations about their own work. The published group list shows where those more specific discussions sit within the organisation.

The list also includes human resources, the knowledge economy and women in business. Those subjects bring workforce and organisational questions into a structure that also covers trade-facing industries, broadening the range of issues members can address through the chamber.

An annual gathering with a longer history

The 2025 anniversary gala, held at Four Seasons Kuwait, provides a record of the network’s established participants. Organisations recognised for more than 15 years of membership included Citi, EY, Boeing, Saudi Arabian Chevron and EQUATE Petrochemicals. The American University of Kuwait was the event’s diamond sponsor.

The mix brought education, finance, professional services, aviation and industry into the same programme. It also placed long-standing local and international relationships alongside the annual awards. Those historical participants should be distinguished from sponsors or attendees announced for the forthcoming edition.

For 2026, the chamber has scheduled the gala under the theme “A Garden of Excellence”, with awards, sponsor recognition and a dinner programme. The confirmed date is 21 October. By then, the PIC cooperation agreement and the newly outlined three-year strategy will form part of the business context surrounding the anniversary gathering.
