The Central Bank of Oman said in a statement that the total issuance of government treasury bills reached OMR 48 million on August 17, 2026. The bank allotted OMR 22 million for the 91-day maturity at an average accepted price of OMR 99.050 per OMR 100 of face value with the minimum price matching that level. It further allotted OMR 26 million in 182-day bills at an average accepted price of OMR 98.069 and a minimum of OMR 98.065. These figures produced an average discount rate of 3.80953 percent and average yield of 3.84606 percent for the shorter bills along with 3.87195 percent and 3.94818 percent respectively for the longer maturity according to the central bank’s tender results.

The Central Bank of Oman acts as the issue manager for these instruments and maintains facilities to provide added liquidity. The interest rate on repo transactions with the bank stands at 4.25 percent while the discount rate on the Treasury Bills Discounting Facility is 4.75 percent. This tender forms part of the monetary authority’s routine weekly schedule of auctions that support government cash management. A similar operation one week earlier raised OMR 14 million according to reports carried by the Qatar News Agency.

CEIC Data places Oman’s national government debt at 38 billion US dollars at the close of 2025. Treasury bills serve as a key short-term component within the government’s overall borrowing framework that also incorporates longer-term development bonds. The Central Bank of Oman publishes tender outcomes promptly to promote transparency in public debt operations.

Bids for the securities are submitted competitively by market participants and accepted according to the discount rates offered. Average prices and resulting yields from the latest auction reflect conditions in the domestic money market at the time of the tender. Successive central bank statements have shown issuance volumes fluctuating from week to week in line with prevailing fiscal requirements.

The Central Bank of Oman maintains a dedicated section on its website that details both current and historical treasury bill tender results. Investors utilise these short-term government securities as part of broader portfolio strategies within the Omani financial system. Comparable auctions conducted earlier in 2026 have included totals ranging from OMR 17.5 million to OMR 76 million according to multiple releases from the authority.

Oman has continued regular local-currency debt issuance throughout 2026 as one element of its fiscal strategy. The latest results bring the combined accepted value precisely to the announced OMR 48 million across the two maturities. Further tenders are expected to follow the established weekly pattern managed by the central bank.
