Aoun further stressed the importance of seamless coordination between Lebanese forces and any international contingent to maintain security gains.
According to the QNA dispatch, the president outlined a fallback model should the extension prove unattainable, calling for an alternative framework that sustains an international force presence in the south under a suitable legal arrangement. This pathway would seek to ensure uninterrupted deployment aimed at preventing any security vacuum. Lebanese officials continue to pursue diplomatic avenues for a breakthrough that secures ongoing international involvement in the region.
The agency noted that Israel has maintained its rejection of UNIFIL operations in the area for roughly a year, adding complexity to renewal efforts. Despite this stance, Lebanon has consistently advocated for sustained international monitoring to support de-escalation and state control.
