Reuters reported that Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the acquisition of Omar Marmoush from Manchester City on a season-long loan that includes an obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer for a guaranteed 50 million pounds. British media placed the potential add-ons at an additional 10 million pounds. The deal was announced on Thursday as the club seeks to address shortcomings in its forward options following recent difficult campaigns.
Marmoush voiced his enthusiasm for the switch in remarks carried by Reuters. “Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me,” he said. “I’ve spoken with the head coach (Roberto De Zerbi), I loved what he had to say and I’m sure our passion for the game will go very well together.” The forward had found consistent first-team action hard to come by at his parent club last season.
According to Qatar News Agency, Marmoush launched his professional career at Egyptian club Wadi Degla in 2016 before transferring to Germany’s Wolfsburg. He subsequently spent time on loan at St. Pauli and Stuttgart and then signed with Eintracht Frankfurt in May 2023. The news agency detailed how he recorded 37 goals and 20 assists across 67 matches during his time with Frankfurt.
BBC Sport outlined that Marmoush’s impressive performances in Germany prompted Manchester City to pay 59 million pounds for his services in January 2025. Qatar News Agency reported that the Egypt international went on to make 62 appearances for City in all competitions while scoring 16 goals and contributing to victories in the League Cup and FA Cup. He notably achieved a hat-trick against Newcastle United during his debut season with the club.
Figures from Qatar News Agency place Marmoush’s international record at 55 appearances and 11 goals for Egypt. He has taken part in three editions of the Africa Cup of Nations. Reuters reported that Marmoush also featured in five games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as Egypt advanced to the last 16 before elimination by eventual runners-up Argentina.
Reuters noted that Tottenham have pursued greater attacking depth after finishing 17th in the Premier League over each of the past two seasons. The club has already committed a combined 237 million pounds to new midfielders and a defender this window under head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who took charge in March. Marmoush’s arrival forms part of the broader effort to rebuild the squad and improve on recent results.
