Direct investment inflows into Kuwait climbed to KD948 million ($3.04 billion) in the 2025-2026 fiscal year, the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority reported in its newly released 11th annual report. KDIPA approved 17 new investment entities during the period, lifting cumulative approved investments since the authority began operations in 2015 to KD2.92 billion. The report, titled “Driving Growth,” evaluates the contributions of these licensed investments to human capital development, technology transfer, economic localization and greater private-sector involvement in line with Kuwait Vision 2035.
KDIPA Director General Sheikh Dr Meshaal Al-Jaber said the latest figures reflected growing investor confidence in Kuwait and sent a clear message that the country remained open, competitive and prepared for future investment. Al-Jaber stressed that success should be measured not only by capital inflows but also by technology transfer, knowledge development and employment opportunities for Kuwaiti nationals. The authority’s assessment found that licensed investments support job creation, workforce training, stronger local supply chains and participation in national development projects.
Cumulative investment flows reached KD1.24 billion by December 2024 according to KDIPA data, with 76 percent of total spending retained within the local economy to benefit domestic businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises. The report documented 832 training programs alongside technology transfers in multiple sectors and 115 sustainability initiatives linked to 15 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These outcomes align with KDIPA’s mandate to maximize the spillover effects of foreign direct investment on the national economy.
The document also tracks implementation of KDIPA’s Medium-Term Strategy for 2025-2030, which focuses on attracting high-impact investments in priority and emerging sectors while simplifying procedures for investors. The strategy further emphasizes expanded digital services, improved inter-agency coordination and development of investment-ready opportunities in economic zones and infrastructure. KDIPA has pursued international engagement through forums such as Davos, Bloomberg and Expo Osaka 2025 as well as partnerships with investment bodies in the UAE, Japan, Hong Kong and Turkey.
Kuwait assumed the presidency of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies for 2025-2027, a step the authority said strengthens its global profile. Business environment reforms led by the Standing Committee for Improving the Business Environment seek to reduce regulatory barriers, speed market entry and enhance transparency. The 11th annual report is available on KDIPA’s official website and digital platforms.
In the preceding fiscal year, new direct investments totaled KD223 million with cumulative approved investments reaching KD1.97 billion, according to the authority’s 10th annual report. The latest surge comes as KDIPA continues efforts to position Kuwait as a future-ready economy driven by innovation and sustainable growth under its establishing law. The authority operates with financial and administrative independence to promote value-added direct investment that supports national development objectives.
