The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan convened an Uzbek-Qatari Investment Roundtable at the Tashkent International Business Center. Senior government officials and representatives from leading organizations in both countries attended the event to examine investment cooperation and review ongoing economic projects. The gathering focused on identifying practical steps to deepen bilateral ties across mutually beneficial sectors.
According to data presented at the roundtable, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Qatar increased by 30.1 percent by the end of 2025 while Uzbek exports to Qatar grew by 36.5 percent. The ministry reported these figures during the discussions as evidence of expanding economic links. Participants used the meeting to align on ways to translate the trade growth into larger joint investments.
A portfolio of proposed projects was outlined, covering banking, mineral extraction and the chemical industry with specific attention to attracting Qatari funding. The ministry’s press service noted that transport infrastructure development, tourism collaboration and management of regional transit hubs also received detailed consideration. Officials identified these areas as central to broadening the scope of economic partnership.
Cooperation in trade and agriculture formed another key segment of the agenda, including the potential creation of agro-clusters to support expanded Uzbek agricultural exports toward Middle East markets. The ministry indicated that such initiatives could help diversify supply chains and open steady outlets for Uzbek producers. Both delegations agreed to maintain momentum on the concepts explored during the session.
The Tashkent roundtable continues a sequence of engagements that includes meetings held in Doha in August 2025, when the same ministry secured agreements on pharmaceutical localization, construction projects, smart urban development, mining and tourism infrastructure. Those discussions also produced plans for a preferential trade agreement, a “Made in Uzbekistan” exhibition in Doha in 2026 and the establishment of a Uzbekistan-Qatar Business Council. The ministry has described these cumulative steps as preparation for a wider project pipeline to be considered at upcoming high-level bilateral events.
