Salisbury came from behind to defeat Farnham Town 2–1 on Saturday, 10 October, with two second-half goals turning an early setback into another victory for the Kuwaiti-owned club.

Rakish Bingham gave the hosts the lead after eight minutes at the Memorial Ground. Salisbury remained behind at the interval before Josh Hedges equalised in the 52nd minute and Nathan Odokonyero put the visitors ahead 11 minutes later.

The result continued a productive spell for Brian Dutton’s side, who have combined an unbeaten league run with progress in the FA Cup. For followers in Kuwait, it also brought another result to celebrate shortly after the club’s first-team visit to the country.

Two goals turn the match

Salisbury’s response after half-time decided the contest. According to the match timeline, Bingham’s early opener separated the sides throughout the remainder of the first half, leaving the visitors needing to recover away from home.

Hedges provided the equaliser seven minutes after the restart. Odokonyero then completed the turnaround in the 63rd minute, changing the score from 1–0 to 1–2 within an 11-minute spell.

Dutton subsequently introduced Jeremy Sivi for Jaiden Bartolo in the 67th minute, before Mo Dabre replaced Hedges six minutes later. Salisbury retained their advantage to take all three points.

The sequence gave the victory a different character from the previous weekend’s emphatic cup success. Against Farnham, Salisbury had to overturn a deficit before protecting a narrow lead. Their two scorers supplied the decisive contributions without the match requiring the five-goal margin that had marked their last outing.

A winning run across two competitions

Saturday’s success was Salisbury’s fifth consecutive victory across the National League South and FA Cup. Their recent results show wins over Truro City, Taunton Town, Folkestone Invicta and Dulwich Hamlet before the trip to Farnham.

Across those five matches, Salisbury scored 14 goals and conceded twice. The run includes three league victories and two cup wins, giving it significance beyond progress in either competition alone.

The broader sequence stretches back to the end of August. Since losing at Maidstone United on 29 August, Salisbury have gone nine competitive matches unbeaten, winning seven and drawing two. In the league, the Farnham result extended their unbeaten stretch to seven fixtures.

That recovery followed consecutive August defeats against Hemel Hempstead Town and Maidstone. Subsequent results have included a 5–1 home victory over Slough Town and narrower wins against Billericay Town and Truro.

Farnham added another away success to that sequence. It also maintained Salisbury’s momentum through a period in which league fixtures, cup ties and their overseas visit have all featured in the schedule.

A growing connection with Kuwait

Salisbury’s Gulf connection became formal in June 2025, when the club announced investment from Kuwaiti businessman Ali Alhamad through the UK-registered company Proleague Ltd.

At the time, the board said it had reached the limit of what it could achieve with its existing resources at the club’s level of football. Alhamad outlined a long-term approach centred on sustainable growth, local talent and the club’s place in its community.

Dutton welcomed the investment as a means of helping Salisbury compete at National League South level. The announcement followed the club’s first season back in the division after promotion in 2024.

The relationship has since extended beyond ownership. Salisbury’s September announcement of a visit to Kuwait set out a trip for first-team players and staff from 27 September to 1 October, between the Folkestone and Dulwich fixtures.

The itinerary included a friendly against Al-Qadsia at the Mohammad Al-Hamad Stadium on 30 September. Salisbury said it had written permission from both the English and Kuwaiti football associations to travel.

The club described the visit as its biggest commercial opportunity to date, stating that all commercial profits and ticket-sale proceeds would go to Salisbury. Those were the terms announced for the trip, rather than a published account of its eventual financial return.

For a club competing in England’s sixth tier, the visit made its Kuwaiti connection tangible through football as well as investment. Saturday’s result returns the focus to the domestic campaign, with the team maintaining its winning sequence after the overseas programme.

From rebuilding to another cup opportunity

The current Salisbury club’s progress has been built over more than a decade. Its official history records incorporation in December 2014, followed by the work of restoring football to the Raymond McEnhill Stadium and entering competitive league football in 2015.

The team won the Wessex Premier title in its first season. Further progress eventually brought promotion to the National League South in May 2024, secured through a penalty shoot-out against AFC Totton.

The latest cup run has supplied another milestone. Salisbury’s 5–0 victory over Dulwich Hamlet on 3 October took the current club into the FA Cup’s fourth qualifying round for the first time. Five different players scored, with Odokonyero completing the scoring a week before his decisive contribution at Farnham.

Next comes a home tie against Eastbourne Borough on Saturday, 17 October, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. A place in the first round proper is at stake.

Salisbury will approach that fixture with five successive victories behind them. The immediate achievement at Farnham was straightforward: an early goal conceded, two second-half goals scored, and another three league points secured.
