UFC will return to Doha on 21 November with a light heavyweight main event between former champion Jiri Prochazka and unbeaten contender Navajo Stirling, giving Qatar a second consecutive year on the promotion’s calendar. The card at Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena comes four weeks after UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, placing two Gulf cities on the organisation’s autumn schedule.

UFC and Visit Qatar announced the return on 17 September, with tickets scheduled to go on sale on 9 October. The event will use the same arena that hosted Qatar’s UFC debut in November 2025, when Arman Tsarukyan and Dan Hooker headlined.

This year’s booking brings a different sporting question to Doha: whether Stirling can extend his unbeaten run against a fighter who has already held the division’s championship. It also gives the city a repeat event around which to build its November sports programme.

A former champion meets an unbeaten challenger

Prochazka enters the matchup with a professional record of 32 wins, six losses and one draw. Stirling is 11-0, including six victories in the UFC. As MMA Fighting reported when the bouts were announced, Stirling has already stopped Bruno Lopes, Ion Cutelaba and former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in 2026.

For Prochazka, the fight follows an April championship defeat to Carlos Ulberg. For Stirling, it is another meeting with a former titleholder during a year in which he has moved quickly through increasingly experienced opposition. Their contrasting positions give the main event a clear competitive shape: an established contender seeking another win and an undefeated opponent trying to continue his rise.

The announced supporting bouts include former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling against Kevin Vallejos, Dan Hooker against Brian Ortega, and Asu Almabayev against Kyoji Horiguchi. Jared Cannonier is paired with Ikram Aliskerov, while Amir Albazi is scheduled to face Alessandro Costa. Together, those matchups spread the card’s interest across several weight divisions.

Doha builds on its first UFC night

Qatar’s first UFC event took place on 22 November 2025. Tsarukyan submitted Hooker with an arm-triangle choke in the second round, while Ian Machado Garry defeated former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision. Horiguchi also won on that card, submitting Tagir Ulanbekov in the third round, according to the promotion’s official results.

Hooker and Horiguchi are therefore returning to a venue where they competed during the inaugural edition. Their presence gives the second event a connection to the first, even as the headline changes from lightweight to light heavyweight and the supporting matchups introduce a different set of opponents.

In the September return announcement, UFC chief executive Dana White described the 2025 arena as sold out. The confirmed November date now moves the relationship beyond that debut. Doha will again host an event with established contenders and former champions, rather than having its UFC history confined to a single opening night.

Abu Dhabi remains the regional anchor

Doha’s return sits alongside a much longer UFC relationship in Abu Dhabi. The promotion first staged an event there in 2010 and entered a formal partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in 2019. An extension announced in 2023 runs through 2028, providing for an annual numbered event featuring a championship bout and additional Fight Nights across the Middle East and North Africa.

That history includes the Fight Island series held on Yas Island during the pandemic. By the time the extension was announced, the original partnership had delivered nine title fights. Those commitments give Abu Dhabi a role extending beyond individual event announcements, with championship cards forming part of a continuing agreement.

This autumn, UFC 333 is scheduled for 24 October at Etihad Arena as the headline event of Abu Dhabi Showdown Week. The accompanying programme brings MMA and fan experiences to Yas Island. Four Saturdays later, attention shifts to Doha’s Fight Night.

The two dates illustrate how the regional calendar accommodates different event formats. Abu Dhabi’s numbered card and surrounding week of activities are followed by a separate Qatar event organised with Visit Qatar. They are distinct host arrangements, but together they give Gulf audiences two opportunities to attend UFC events within a month.

A November date alongside Formula 1

Doha’s timing places UFC immediately ahead of another international sports weekend. The Qatar Grand Prix runs from 27 to 29 November at Lusail International Circuit, with practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday. UFC takes place six days before the Formula 1 weekend begins.

Formula 1 first raced in Qatar in 2021, and the country signed a further 10-year hosting agreement beginning in 2023. The November race is therefore part of a continuing commitment, alongside the newer UFC fixture.

That proximity creates the possibility of a longer trip for visitors interested in both sports, although attendance at one event does not establish demand for the other. The confirmed calendar is the concrete link: mixed martial arts at an indoor arena, followed the next weekend by motor racing at Lusail.

For UFC, the immediate next step is the 9 October ticket release. Prochazka and Stirling are set to headline the 21 November card, while Hooker and Horiguchi return to the city where they fought a year earlier. Doha’s second event will follow Abu Dhabi’s October show and precede Qatar’s Grand Prix, giving the Gulf’s late-year sports schedule another confirmed date.
