The Finance Division said Asyad Group Chief Executive Officer Ghassan Ahmed Amodi met Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb to discuss the group’s current portfolio and opportunities arising from the government’s privatization program. Amodi reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Pakistan as a key investment destination and expressed satisfaction with its performance there. He specifically highlighted interest in the airport privatization by assembling a team of Saudi and international partners with technical expertise.

According to the Finance Division, the talks also touched on potential investments in the financial sector and Wafi Energy Pakistan’s plans to grow its retail network, storage facilities and digital initiatives. Wafi Energy Pakistan is the Asyad-controlled entity that took over Shell Pakistan in 2024. Arab News reported that the unit achieved a 21 percent increase in first-half 2026 profit to Rs1.52 billion despite a second-quarter loss of Rs641 million.

This development builds on signals earlier this year when the company indicated it was considering up to $100 million in new investments over two to three years to bolster infrastructure and technology. The Finance Division had noted at the time that improved macroeconomic conditions had enabled resumed scaling of operations following the business integration. Officials emphasized the role of such foreign capital in supporting Pakistan’s energy sector resilience.

Aurangzeb welcomed the growing Saudi interest and outlined the government’s economic reforms designed to foster a business-friendly climate for long-term investors. The minister assured the delegation of continued support and facilitation for their projects in the country. He underscored the value of private sector linkages between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Asyad Group first entered the Pakistani market significantly through the Shell Pakistan acquisition, gaining control of a network with more than 600 retail sites and substantial storage capacity. The entity continues to operate under the Shell brand via licensing arrangements while pursuing local expansion including in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Amodi shared details of these ongoing activities and future intentions with the finance minister.

The Pakistani authorities have been advancing a privatization agenda that includes major airports to improve management and operational efficiency. Amodi’s comments indicate Asyad’s readiness to engage in such projects through consortium formation. The meeting reflects sustained efforts to deepen economic cooperation between the two nations.
