Chelsea announced on Saturday that Brazilian forward Joao Pedro has signed a new contract until 2034, the club said in a statement published on its official website. The 24-year-old joined Chelsea from Brighton in July 2025 for an initial fee of 55 million pounds plus add-ons, according to BBC Sport. In the announcement, Joao Pedro said, “I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea. I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club.”
The statement underlined the club’s confidence in the player and his role in the team going forward, Qatar News Agency reported. Joao Pedro netted 20 goals in all competitions during his first season and was named the supporters’ Player of the Season. He also contributed three goals as Chelsea claimed the Club World Cup title last summer.
Chelsea’s official site noted that the striker made an immediate impact after his arrival, scoring in the Club World Cup semi-final and final against Paris Saint-Germain. The forward started his English career at Watford before moving to Brighton, where transfer records from Transfermarkt show he scored 19 Premier League goals in two seasons.
