Invest Qatar said in a statement that it collaborated with QNB Group to organise a high-level investor dialogue in Beijing in June 2026 as part of the Qatar-China Synergy Series focused on navigating resilience in a shifting global landscape. The event convened senior representatives from major Chinese companies and institutions including China International Capital Corporation, Moore Threads, Pop Mart and Sinopec along with industry bodies. Discussions centred on Qatar’s investment environment, sector-specific prospects and the investor support framework while addressing ways to strengthen industrial and financial cooperation amid evolving global conditions.
According to Invest Qatar’s statement the roundtable was held in partnership with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing branch and the ZGC-GCC Innovation Partners Program. Participants exchanged views on long-term partnership pathways across priority sectors as the agency sought to position Qatar as a stable destination for Chinese capital. Fahad Ali Al-Kuwari, chief of investment development at Invest Qatar, said in the statement that this dialogue reflects Qatar’s unwavering commitment to deepening economic cooperation with China and to providing international investors with a stable, predictable and supportive environment.
Al-Kuwari added through close collaboration with trusted partners such as QNB the agency continues to strengthen channels for investment, facilitate meaningful partnerships and position Qatar as a reliable long-term destination for Chinese enterprises seeking global growth. The statement noted that China has emerged as one of Qatar’s leading sources of foreign direct investment. Invest Qatar’s FDI Projects Monitor data places the number of Chinese projects between 2017 and 2026 at 59 with capital expenditure surpassing 3 billion dollars and the creation of more than 3,200 jobs.
A separate assessment released by Invest Qatar on its 2025 performance and reported by 36Kr Global showed total foreign direct investment reaching 3.4 billion dollars across 373 projects that generated over 15,000 jobs. Chinese entities accounted for 23 of those projects placing the country fourth among source markets and representing 6.2 percent of the total according to the agency’s figures. Investments from China that year spanned complete vehicle manufacturing, consumer goods, biotechnology, software and information technology services.
Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturers have been particularly active in establishing operations in Qatar with brands including Avatr, BYD, Zeekr, Jetour, XPeng and 212 Off-Road Vehicles completing investment layouts in the market the 2025 report indicated. The Beijing roundtable builds on this momentum by targeting additional collaboration in advanced technology and innovation-driven sectors. Invest Qatar maintains that roughly 520 Chinese companies now operate across multiple industries in the country.
